What is abundantly clear right now, in the 2024 GOP race, is that the donor class and the voters are not aligned. The short version is: The Republican donor class wants to get rid of former President Donald Trump, and the party’s voters want to elect him.
Just look at this week’s debut of Sen. Tim Scott’s (R-SC) presidential campaign. Though well liked in the Senate and by voters in his home state of South Carolina, Scott is not exactly a national figure at the moment. A month ago, he was below 1% in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls. Now, he has shot all the way up to 1.9%. Nevertheless, Scott is rolling in cash.
“Mr. Scott will have more than enough money to find out if there’s a bigger market for his ideas than the polls suggest,” the New York Times reported. “His support for pro-business policies has made him a favorite of the Republican donor class and he has billionaires like the Oracle founder Larry Ellison — who was aligned with Mr. Trump while he was in the White House — who are willing to put millions of dollars behind his campaign.” So far, Ellison has contributed about $25 million to Scott’s super PAC.
At his campaign rollout in Charleston, South Carolina, Scott said, “I’ve got great mentors. … One of my mentors, Larry Ellison, is with us today.” Twenty-five million dollars is a lot of mentoring, and Ellison is reportedly prepared to mentor Scott even more in the future.
Og så advarer York
[I]f GOP voters reject perfectly fine primary candidates like DeSantis, Pence, Haley, Scott, and others in favor of Trump and then Trump loses — well, that is what can happen. Parties sometimes go off in the wrong direction and are rewarded with defeat.
Jonah Goldberg udtrykte samme tankegang, som han betroede CNN “Small donors are actually one of the biggest problems for democracy and the GOP.” Fordi
Large donors actually have a strategic view of moderation, who can win, who can’t. Small donors really are just venting their spleen with their credit card. And they lock candidates into positions that can hurt their chances in the general election.
It is immoral because it perpetuates a lie: that the white working class that finds itself attracted to Trump has been victimized by outside forces,” the NR roving correspondent writes. “[N]obody did this to them. They failed themselves.

If you spend time in hardscrabble, white upstate New York, or eastern Kentucky, or my own native West Texas, and you take an honest look at the welfare dependency, the drug and alcohol addiction, the family anarchy—which is to say, the whelping of human children with all the respect and wisdom of a stray dog…

The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible (…) The white American under-class is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles. Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good. So does OxyContin. What they need isn’t analgesics, literal or political. They need real opportunity, which means that they need real change, which means that they need U-Haul. If you want to live, get out of Garbutt.
Trump havde en tryllestav, der kunne klare “Believe me, there’s no problem”
Vor tids Working Man Blues hedder Rich Men North of Richmond, skrevet og sunget af Oliver Anthony (Featuring The Marine Rapper).
Anthony’s song says:
I’ve been sellin’ my soul, workin’ all day
Overtime hours for bullshit pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles awayWright responded, “My brother in Christ, you live in the United States of America in 2023 — if you’re a fit, able-bodied man, and you’re working ‘overtime hours for bullshit pay,’ you need to find a new job.”
Get a job?
That’s it?
Ahh, yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip-yip
Mum-mum-mum-mum-mum-mum, get a job
Sha-na-na-na, sha-na-na-na-naWright said, “There’s plenty of them out there — jobs that don’t require a college degree, that offer good pay (especially in this tight labor market) and great benefits, especially if you’re willing to get your hands dirty by doing things like joining the Navy, turning wrenches, fixing pumps, laying pipe, or a hundred other jobs through which American men can still make a great living. If you’re the type of guy who’s willing to show up on time, every time, work hard while you’re on the clock, and learn hard skills — there’s a good-paying job out there for you. Go find it.”
“Never before has a boy wanted more” synger Mr brumble da Oliver beder om en fair belønning for hårdt arbejde. It’s a damn shame.
Herunder har nogle venstreorienterede talt med Trumptilhængere og fundet at “…despite some irreconcilable differences between us, there’s an aggressive pro-worker economic agenda that appeals to Americans across the political spectrum”.
“What caused January 6 is pervasive censorship in this country in the lead up to January 6,” Ramaswamy said, repudiating the idea that Trump motivated the riot. “You tell people in this country they cannot speak. That is when they scream. You tell people they cannot scream. That is when they tear things down.”
Trump is a fucking idiot, is unable to provide a coherent answer“ Trump var en trussel mod The Inter Agency Consensus, der ikke skyede nogle midler for at bringe ham til fald.
