“Man skulle kaste et net over hele banden!” vrisser Dirty Harry til sin nye kollega, som de patruljerer det depraverede natteliv i filmen fra 1971. Ironisk var det netop, hvad der skete, og det hyper-liberale tankesæt har derfor dannet reglerne for vores brug af internettet.
The point is that, from my standpoint, is that X/Twitter should represent the sort of collective consciousness of humanity. That means that there’s gonna be views on there that you don’t like or disagree with. But that is humanity! So are you gonna exclude them or not?
Musk: This is gonna sound somewhat melodramatic, but I was worried about that it was having a corrosive effect on civilization. That it was just having a bad impact. And part of it was, where it was located, it was in downtown San Francisco. And while I think San Francisco is af beautiful city, I’ll find it really hard to ‘right the ship’ of San Francisco.
If you walk around downtown San Francisco, right near X/Twitter headquarters, it’s a zombie-apocalypse (…) You can’t believe it until you go there. So what philosophy lead to that outcome? And that philosophy was being piped to Earth.
You know, that philosophy would ordinarily be quite niche and geographically constrained, so the fallout area would be limited. But it was effectively given an information… a weapon! An information technology weapon to propagate what essentially is a mindvirus to the rest of earth. And the outcome of that mind-virus is very clear if you walk around the streets of downtown San Francisco.
It is the end of civilization!
(…)
In order for the mind-virus to propagate it must suppress opposite viewpoints (…) You[Rogan]’ve felt the virus, people try to cancel you so many times…
Rogan: Yeah, it’s fascinating. I don’t think you’re melodramatic at all. I think it’s almost like a deathcult.
Musk: It is a deathcult, that is exactly right. It’s essentially extinctionists. They are propagating the extinction of humanity and civilization. Most of the times it’s implicit but sometimes it’s explicit, like that guy [Les Knight] on the front page of New York Times, who literally had what was called an extinctionalist movement, and he was quoted in the New York Times saying “there are 8 billion people but it would be better if there were none!”
And I’m like ‘yeah buddy, you can start with yourself’!
(…)
I’m pro environment in a limit. If you take environmentalism to the extreme you start to view humanity as a plague to the Earth. Like a mold or something. But this is actually false. I mean, Earth could take 10 times the current civilization. The population could be 10 extra populations without destroying a single forest. (…)
I’m heading to an international AI safety conference later tonight, I’m meeting with the british prime minister and some other people… so you have to say like, how can AI go wrong? Well, if AI get programmed by the extinctionalists its utility function will be the extinction of humanity.
Musk: Old Twitter was basically an arm of the government
Rogan: Was that shocking? I mean, what was that like? To me that was the most bizarre, was the Twitter files, when you let Shellenberger and Matt Taibbi and all those guys, get ind the Twit.. and the response was Matt Taibbi get audited! I mean, which is just wild! I mean just so blatant and so in your face…
Musk: Yeah, it’s weird! By the way Jack [Dorsey, tidligere ejer og stifter] didn’t really know this, but really what Twitter was, was an arm of the government, which was not well understood by the public. It was like Pravda basically. A state publication, is the way to think of old Twitter, a state publication.
(…)
Musk: There was basically oppression of any views that would even, I would say, be considered middle of the road. But certainly anything on the right, and I’m not talking about the far right, I’m just talking mildly right. Like, Republicans where suppressed like 10 times the rate of Democrats.
That’s because old Twitter were fundamentally controlled by the far left. It was like completely controlled by the far left. That’s why I say, like San Francisco Berkeley is like a niche ideology. It’s hard to say, is there a place that is more far left than San Francisco Berkeley? (…)
So from their standpoint everything is to the right. Including moderates. If you internalize a far left position everything seems wrong to you, that is not far left. So they naturally oppressed anything that didn’t agree with their views.
That’s why I say that it was an accidental far left information weapon. Silicon Valley attracts the smartest engineers, the smartest programmers and technologist around the world. They created an information weapon, that was then harnessed by the far left, who could not themselves create the weapon but they happened to be located where the technologists were.
The technologists tend to be moderate, maybe moderate left. They are not far left. That’s why I say, San Francisco Berkeley… It doesn’t even extent to South San Francisco or even to Palo Alto, so SF Berkeley is the most far left, perhaps in a contest with Portland, but I’d say SF Berkeley is more far left that even Portland.
We are talking about an area that’s maybe a ten mile radius. The negative effects of a far left ideology, that would be geographically to a ten mile radius… so any bad effects of that ideology would be geographically constrained under normal circumstances and have been in the past.
But when you have basically a technologically megaphone, which was Twitter and social media in general – suddenly the far left i handed a megaphone to Earth! And incredible powerful technology weapon, that they themselves could not create, but they happened to be co-located with the technologist who created it – by accident!
“They have propagated that far left philosophy, not just to America, but to everywhere on Earth”.
Yoel Roth, Twitter’s former ‘Censor-in-Chief,’ renowned for censoring the Biden laptop story, President Trump, and the political right during the 2020 election, is now complaining that the right is censoring his censorship industry via lawsuits and congressional investigations.
In a New York Times op-ed, Roth laments investigations aimed at his beloved censorship industry:
“Private individuals from academic researchers to employees and tech companies are increasingly the target of lawsuits, congressional hearings, and vicious online attacks. These efforts, largely staged by the right, are having their desired effect.”
“We’ve stopped having a conversation about the facts. We’ve stopped having a debate about which ideas are good, which ideas are bad, good research, bad research.
We’ve sort of entered this phase where silencing people has become the de facto way to advance your interests.”
The irony here is palpable.
Roth, who not only silenced dissent during the 2020 election but also suppressed doctors, scientists, and professors during the COVID pandemic, appears oddly unaware of the irony that he’s complaining about investigations silencing his own censorship empire.
