Så for at sikre hende et godt primærvalg, fik hun kontrol over partiets økonomiske midler, som hun også blev hjulpet af medierne da det endelig stod mellem hende og Bernie Sanders.

Nikki Haley havde den samme rolle som Warren i Republikanernes primærvalg, hvor Trumps fjender i partiet og Demokratiske donorer holdt liv i hendes bestræbelser på at opnår en direkte duel med Trump længe efter at toget var kørt. Så Trump har helt ret når han spekulerer i, at Demokraterne måske ikke er færdige med at stille nye kandidater op i denne valgkamp

At the outset, Democrat Party leaders and donors rigged their primary to dramatically and artificially limit the choices available to voters. Millions of voters, nevertheless, participated, stood up, and said, “We accept the choice you’ve given us — we choose Joe Biden.” And although Biden was insistent to the end that he wanted to run, Democrat Party leaders and donors got cold feet. So they simply nullified the voters’ choice by relentlessly badgering Biden to drop out, day and night, for three straight weeks, until he relented.
Since then, no Democrat, not even Biden, has seen any need at all to offer voters an explanation for what just happened. To this minute, neither Democrat Party leaders nor donors, to say nothing of Biden himself, have offered a single word as to why they have pursued a strategy of massive and unprecedented voter disenfranchisement. Is Biden too frail or too sick to continue? Did he suddenly lose the passion for public service he’s professed for over 50 years? Something else? No one has told the American people. Democrat leaders just said he had to go, and so he’s gone.

Og sorte mænd, især, har det stramt med disse ‘golden boys’. Og på samme konto er Josh Shapiro jøde. Det er heller ikke godt, at en vigtig donor, der ikke foretrak at Harris blive kandidat kalder Shapiro “an Obama-level political talent“. Som artiklen slutter, uden måske helt at forstå hvorledes vicepræsidenten ikke må overstråle præsidenten (Ford, Mondale, Bush Sr., Quale, Gore, Cheney, Pence, Harris(!)), hun “may need a Biden of her own”.

There are all sorts of things Pelosi could have threatened him with as part of the “hard way.” The party could have starved the Biden campaign of money. It could have begun a campaign of leaks confirming Biden’s senescence. It could have stopped defending Biden against Republican attacks. It could have, in other words, hung Biden out to dry. Yes, that is a self-defeating course for a political party to take in an election year, but the plan would have been to make life so painful for Biden that he would quickly relent.
‘Deep State’ havde sikkert også nogle påvirkningsstrategier. Som Rudolph Giulliani pointerede “They want Kamala Harris because they CAN control Kamala Harris. They don’t want Donald Trump because they CAN’T control Donald Trump.”
