Tucker Carlson er, som de fleste nok har hørt, blevet opsagt som vært på Fox News. Der er mange spekulationer om årsagen, men den er næppe entydig. Murdoch, der ejer Fox, er ingen fan af Trump og har sikkert ikke set velvilligt på Carlsons vinkel på optøjerne ved Capitol 6/1 2021. Hvis fortællingen om en opstand, insurrection, undermineres, vil det gavne Trumps valgkamp, da det synes at være den eneste anklage, der er levedygtig.
Tucker er også en arg kritiker af at krigen i Ukraine understøttes, frem for at presse på for en fred. Det gavner ikke ikke alle de interesser, der er bundet op i Washingtons sump af overlejret magt.
Men det er næppe på grund af en producer, der følte en misogyn og antisemitisk stemning, skønt hun aldrig havde mødt Carlson. Ej heller har det noget at gøre med forliget med Dominion, der producerer de afstemnings-maskiner, der talte 81 mio. stemmer til Biden. Og rygterne om at Murdochs ex er vild med Tucker Carlson er nok heller ikke årsagen.
Men det er også lige meget, for det vakte glæde i de kredse, der stadig tror at de nedarvede medier viser virkeligheden. Sådan en er Mehdi Hassan udtrykte de venstreorienteredes syn

Den Store Løgn skal give noget Orange Hitler stemning til den bizarre logik, at mere åbenhed og transparens er fascisme.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez forklarede til en nikkende Jean Psaki, der var Bidens tidligere talsperson, men trods alt heterosexuel, der nu propaganderer på et af den dybe stats medier

Som Gleen Greenwald noterede “Like so much of what she says, it is not just authoritarian—but incredibly stupid and ignorant.” Og så retter han hende også i det faktum, at Fox News ikke er æterbåren, men kabel-tv. Det vil sige, at de ikke skal have tilladelse af staten til at få en del af båndbredden og således ikke er underlagt statslig regulering, men kun den amerikanske ytringsfrihed. Ocasio-Cortez er lovgiver.
Pentagon var også glade for at se Carlson afskediget

When asked by the outlet to respond to Pentagon officials’ cheers over his departure, Carlson told Politico by text message, “Ha! I’m sure.”
The first senior DoD official said Carlson “made a mockery” of the free press and “repeatedly cherry-picked department policies and used them to destroy DoD as an institution.”

In February 1957, Mao issued a surprising speech titled “On the Correct Handling of Contradictions Among the People” in which he encouraged intellectual debate and criticism.
Intellectuals were leery and did not come forward, prompting Mao to take measures to induce their speech. When some then criticized party orthodoxy or corruption, Mao had the speech retroactively changed and cracked down on dissenters as spreading harmful thoughts.
Mao rounded up the intellectuals and told citizens that the government would only allow the ‘fragrant flowers’ of healthy debate while pulling out the ‘poisonous weeds’ of noxious capitalism. What is noteworthy is how close the rhetoric of Mao is to that of many anti-free speech advocates today on our campuses.
Mao declared “words and actions should help to unite, not divide, the people of our various nationalities; They should be beneficial, not harmful, to socialist construction; They should help to consolidate, not weaken, the people’s democratic dictatorship; They should help to consolidate, not weaken, democratic centralism.”
Tucker ser ud til at nyde sit frie liv og hans første lille video på Rumble, hvor han blot hilste på sine fans, blev set mere end 55 mio gange. For mig at se, gør internettet det stærke individ fri. Så Tucker kan tænke over hvorledes han vil udnytte sit talent, som Joe Rogan gjorde. Og Fox kan tænke, som Creedence Clearwater Revival, efter de smed John Fogerty ud.
